Hi from Jackie & Ian – Your Hosts at Knoydart House Studio Room

We just wanted to say hello and introduce ourselves—put a face to the name and welcome you (hopefully in person!) to this little slice of wild West Coast magic we call home.

A bit about us…

Over 34 years ago (yikes, time flies!), East met West when we packed up our lives in Aberdeenshire and made the leap across the water to Knoydart—back then, boosting the population to a mighty 72. For two decades, we had the absolute pleasure of running The Old Forge, Britain’s most remote mainland pub. It was a wild ride, full of unforgettable characters and late-night fiddle tunes, and where we truly discovered that looking after people is what we do best.

11 years ago, we passed the pub on to new hands and turned our focus to something close to our hearts—creating special places for people to escape to. That’s how Knoydart House Studio Room came to life. Designed with love, a bit of flair, and one goal in mind: to give couples a luxury experience in the wild like no other.

We’re coastal souls at heart, totally in love with the rhythm of Loch Nevis, the glow of those outrageous West Coast sunsets, and the stars that spill across the Milky Way like a postcard from another planet. It’s a place that rewards the journey it takes to get here. And the people—whether they stay a day, a week, or a lifetime—are what make Knoydart so magnetic.

Fresh-off-the-boat scallops and langoustines, foraged wild sorrel, line-caught mackerel, impromptu trad sessions on the pier—it’s these moments that made us fall hard for this place. And we haven’t looked back.

With family flung across NZ, Oz, Canada, and the UK, travel has taught us a lot about what makes a space feel like home. That’s what we’ve poured into Knoydart House Studio Room — a unique, award-winning escape for two with hot tub, killer views, and space to truly switch off and reconnect. Off-grid but all-out luxury. Above the radar and below the parapet.
