Here on Knoydart, we’re lucky to live in one of the last true wildernesses in the UK—rugged, dramatic, and unbelievably beautiful. But it’s not just the landscape that makes this place special—it’s the people. We’re a small, tight-knit community that cares deeply about keeping Knoydart wild, healthy, and thriving, just the way it should be.

We love it when our guests shop local, support small businesses, and get a real taste of the place. Pick up fresh greens from our community garden, our village shop or swing by Iain Stewarts in Fort Wiliam for ultra-fresh seafood—think Knoydart langoustines, hand-dived scallops, mussels, crab. Low food miles, local jobs, unbeatable flavour.

Living Lightly

We’re all about sustainability here—because keeping things clean, green, and off-grid is what makes Knoydart so magical.

At Inverie Primary School & Nursery, our wee ones are already leading the way. They’re part of the UK’s Curriculum for Excellence, and they’ve earned a Green Flag Eco-Schools Award for learning how to care for the planet from the start. It’s inspiring stuff.

And we walk the walk too. Here’s what we’re doing at Knoydart House Studio Room to live a little lighter:

There’s no mains electricity here. No mobile masts either. And that’s kind of the point. We run on rainwater-fed hydro, clean air, starry skies, and a whole lot of care.

The air here is the cleanest you’ll breathe. The seafood, the freshest you’ll taste. The pace, the calmest you’ll feel. Staying here isn’t just a getaway—it’s a reset.

We’ve designed Knoydart House Studio Room with floor-to-ceiling glass to bring the outside in—letting you soak up the views, not switch on every light. With zero light pollution, the Milky Way is your nightlight.
