Knoydart is a fantastic playground for all ages and just like Treasure Island you’ll find yourself castaway to carefree , long days and lazy nights which lend themselves perfectly to treasured family holiday memories.
There is little traffic here on Knoydart as the only road is seven miles long and runs the length of the peninsula. No street lights might give your crew their first real glimpse of the milky way, big dipper or wish upon a shooting star.
The woodland walks on Knoydart are excellent, clearly marked trails for all ages courtesy of the Knoydart Forest Trust, clamber onto the massive tyre swing, it has held 7 at once, last count!. Go fungi foraging or collect wild wood sorrel for part of your supper. Knoydart Forest Trust has just completed building its first bike track complete with banks, jumps and dips for the more adventurous mountain bike rider.

Beach barbeques are great in winter if you wrap up well with a mug of cocoa and a stick for toasting those marshmallows, collect conkers in autumn or gather round the fire for a game from the games chest in the house.
The music scene fosters young and old and the local ceilidhs in the pub and village hall are a great chance for all ages to don their dancing shoes and learn some steps. The local pub has a childrens’ licence until 10pm.
There are a collection of Scottish childhood stories for the smaller guests at Knoydart House from the likes of Mairi Hedderwick, Katie Morag and Hairy Mclary. Crisp white linen for sleepy heads, a wooden ride on motorcycle, for under 5’s, Stokke Trip Trap Highchair, baby listeners and travel cot available by request. The house has junior cutlery for little hands as well.
The beaches on Knoydart are sheltered and make an interesting diversion for crabbing lines, rock poolings, dam building and sealife spotting. Mackerel fisihing off the pier can be quite competitive amongst the young house guests especially with the turn of the tide, don't forget to bring your rods! Take time to study the butterfish, little crabs and shrimps, go mussel collecting, try some beach art, wild flower pressing or catch the spoots (razor fish)and mussels to cook for tea.
